The Vapors on TV!

The band recently took part in some filming for an upcoming online TV series called ‘That Was Then, This Is Now’. Devised by Radio 1 legend Mike Read and producer Mike Stock, the series features many artists from the United DJs’ Heritage Chart who are still making music today. Alongside The Vapors, the series has appearances from Toyah, Paul Young, Kim Wilde and many others. The series consists of five episodes and will be shown online weekly from 7pm Thursday 5th of November (the older amongst us will recognise this as the regular ‘Top Of The Pops’ slot!). The Vapors appear on episode three on 19th November and will be performing two songs. The programme is pay per view and tickets, and other info, can be found here

Waiting For The Weekend @ 40

On this day in 1980, the band released their fourth single ‘Waiting For The Weekend’, the third and final single from ‘New Clear Days’. The single version was a different mix to the album track and featured the inclusion of a brass section. The lyrics described a relationship hindered by the constraints of the working week and the catchy track ‘Billy’ was the b-side. Despite the accompanying video (with the band as mechanics), the single didn’t make the UK chart. Listen to both songs from the single on Spotify here

Congratulations to the band who have reached number one with Girl From The Factory on the Heritage Chart on United DJs Radio. The track has been climbing steadily over recent weeks and has now hit the top spot. It’s a well deserved position for such a great track, well done Dave, Dan, Steve & Michael! Down under 40 years ago…

40 years ago this week, in mid August 1980, the band headed to the Antipodes to play a 13 gig tour of Australia. They were their first shows outside the UK and followed on from the chart success of Turning Japanese in the territory. With a packed itinerary, the band also appeared on various TV shows which helped to propel TJ to number 1 in Oz (watch their Countdown appearance here). They were even presented with gold discs on the trip!
With input from the band & crew, we will be commemorating the trip, and their subsequent trip to another Vapor-hungry territory, the USA, with an in-depth article soon…

Cheers to Vinny W for the tour advert

NCD 40th tour postponed

Unfortunately but inevitably, AGMP Promotions have confirmed that, due to the current global situation, the New Clear Days 40th Anniversary tour scheduled for later this year is being postponed until Autumn 2021. Obviously, this is disappointing but the safety of everyone is first and foremost and being able to enjoy the shows without restrictions is a priority. The tour in 2021 will also need to be scaled back in terms of dates because of the uncertain future faced by some venues sadly. Support for the tour is still The 79ers.

If you already have a ticket for one of the locations on the rescheduled list, those tickets will remain valid for the new dates, even if the venue has changed. However, if you purchased a ticket for a show that is no longer on the new list of dates, or for any other specific ticket related queries, please contact your point of sale. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Hopefully see you on the road in 2021…
