Following the band’s penultimate gig in Worthing last night, the final gig in the diary for 2022 is the long-awaited Portmeirion weekend at the end of November. Always a hugely anticipated event in the Vapors’ calendar, this year promises to live up to the high expectations with a packed weekend of live music and events.
On the music front, there’s 2 Vapors sets on the Saturday, special guests The 79ers on Friday, Dan Fenton doing a turn and even a chance for fans to perform a track during the open mic set. All that plus DJ Jacqui Carroll on the decks spinning tunes throughout the weekend too.

Exactly 6 years ago today, the newly reformed band played their first gig in 35 years at the Opium Rooms in Dublin. That show was part of a 4 date mini tour (plus a secret Guildford warm up) to test audience response to their reformation. The tour was a huge success, confirming that there was a big potential audience out there, even after all that time. The rest is history…

The band released a long awaited third album, nearly 40 years after their second, and have clocked up over 120 shows since that Dublin debut (despite losing 18 months of potential gigs due to the Covid pandemic). With a UK tour already in for early 2023, it looks set to carry on for a while yet. Long may it continue…

We can confirm that the special guests for five dates on the 2023 tour are Nottingham based power trio Sharp Class. They will be playing at the Liverpool, Birmingham, Newcastle, Bristol & Guildford shows.

Intrepid gig goer, published author, merch man extraordinaire and boy about town Mike Philpott went on the road with the band early in August for a mammoth trek around the country for a hectic 4 gig weekend. Fresh from his travels, he was kind enough to provide a diary, written in his own wonderful style, of that roadtrip. Over to Mike:
The band have got a packed week ahead of them with two festival appearances and two headline shows. They play their own gig in Hull on Thursday night then hotfoot it over to Rebellion in Blackpool as openers on Friday lunchtime on the huge outdoor stage on the promenade. It’s then over to Barnoldswick for an intimate, charity headline gig on Friday night and finally up to Durham for Stone Valley North festival on Saturday. A few tickets are still available for Hull & Barnoldswick. Waiting for the four gig weekend!! See you on the road…
